26th February, and we accordingly wrote to Mr Dves in our General Letter No 11 dated 5th July as follows: -

"(5) We have just received your general letter No 4 and accompanying tracing, and notice that the reclamation scheme shewn on the latter is of considerably greater magnitude than the preliminary scheme shewn on the plan (copy of which I enclose) prepared by the Director of Public Works dated 27th December 1905, and approved by us with the addition of 200 feet in a southerly direction, in our letter to the Crown Agents dated 25th May 1906.

We should therefore be obliged if you would let us know whether you have conferred with the Public Works Department on this matter and have obtained sanction for the alteration."

This extension of the preliminary reclamation includes our proposal to extend the scheme for a distance of 200 ft in a southerly direction which we considered would be sufficient for the actual purposes of the Railway, but we highly approve of the scheme of extending the reclamation another 1,000 feet as now proposed and we only refrained from suggesting it at the time in view of the increased cost.

We are,
&c.,
For SIR JOHN WOLFE BARRY & PARTNERS,
J. Wolfe Barry.
